Buy a
cougar tag this year, and you could bag a great prize – even if you
don’t bag a cat!
OHA
recognizes that predation is having a major impact on Oregon
big game populations.
This contest
is aimed at encouraging hunters to buy cougar tags and hunt the big
cats. To that end, this year 3 of the 4 prizes will go to tag
buyers, whether they tag a cat or not. Last year fewer than 100
members submitted tags for the drawing, so your odds of drawing one
of the three prizes are much better than drawing an antelope tag
with 5 preference points! All OHA members who purchase a cougar tag
for the 2008 season will be eligible for this drawing. If you send a
photocopy of your 2008 cougar tag to the above address, you will be
eligible to win one of these prizes:
1. Wind River
20-60x80 Spotting Scope Kit
2. Leupold Vari-X
III 3.5-10x40 Silver rifle scope
3. Leupold RX-II
Black Rangefinder.
HOW TO BAG A
PRIZE WHEN YOU BAG A CAT:
ODFW rules require that each cougar killed must be presented to an ODFW
employee for inspection within 10 days of the kill. Only cougars taken
on a sporting tag will be eligible for this contest. The ODFW employee
will fill out an information form for the state recording the vital
details of the cougar. To be eligible for the prize drawing, the hunter
must request a copy of that form and send the form or a photocopy
thereof to: OHA Cougar Contest, P.O. Box 1706, Medford, OR 97501.
On Jan. 9, 2009, OHA representatives will draw one name from all of the
applicants and that individual will be awarded the following prize:
1. Leupold Vari-X III 4.5-14x40 Boone & Crockett rifle scope
ELIGIBILITY:
1. The contest is open to all OHA members in good standing.
2. The contest will run from Jan. 1, 2008, through Dec. 31, 2008.
3. Entries must be received by Jan. 9, 2009.
Every
successful cougar hunter entering this year's contest will
receive a free cougar print "The Prowler" by Oregon artist Dave
Bartholet (www.davebartholet.com)

2007 WINNERS
Four lucky hunters – three who were lucky enough to bag a
cougar, and one who was not – won premium optics prizes in the
2007 Oregon Hunters Association’s Statewide Cougar Contest. The
contest was intended to encourage hunters to buy cougar tags and
hunt the big cats, either deliberately or incidentally to other
big game hunts. Winners for the top three prizes were drawn from
among those who submitted ODFW cougar harvest sheets.
Every
successful hunter who submitted a 2007 ODFW cougar harvest sheet
received a print of "Clash of the Titans" donated by Oregon
artist Dave Bartholet (

.

All OHA members who bought cougar tags – successful or not – were
eligible to win a prize by submitting a copy of their 2007 Oregon
cougar tag. One prize winner was drawn from among the submitted
tags.
